The Milling Foreman must possess leadership qualities, knowledge of paving equipment, tools and the different skill-sets required to supervise a Milling Crew.
JOB DUTIES:
Supervise and manage a Milling Crew doing site prep for multiple private, municipal, state and federal projects;
Plan the day to day operations on assigned project and ensure that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material.
Then coordinate daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans and other associated tasks.
Organize job site goals, timelines and budget;
Ensure required supplies and materials are ordered in a timely manner;
Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications.
Oversee Milling Crew activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality of finished product;
Conduct daily meetings with crew to brief on production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards and to solicit feedback from workers;
Take responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals by performing safety audits in adherence to Company policies and procedures, coach counsel and train crew members in machinery utilization and effective production operations.
Review equipment condition, maintenance and repair needs.
Communicate with contractors and subcontractors to coordinate work schedules, production goals and deadlines.
Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as production reports, times sheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders and updating project files.
Always communicate and promote safe working practices and Company safety standards.
Take action to handle the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
Investigate damage, accidents or delays at construction site to ensure that proper procedures are being followed.
Perform projects and other duties as assigned
On occasion, assist with general laborer and equipment operations tasks, as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Milling Superintendent.
Will direct, coordinate and budget activities concerned with road surfacing aspects of the construction project;
Coordinate with the Milling Superintendent to develop best means and methods on job production goals, labor and materials, scheduling, safety and quality;
Meet with Milling Superintendent to review status of project(s), set production goals, update job progress and addressing issues (existing and potential) impacting production;
Ensure thorough understanding of job objectives to effectively direct crew in job tasks and activities required to meet daily goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Driver's License (Georgia DOT paving experience a plus!);
Able to pass a Drug Test;
Must pass DOT Physical;
Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes;
Thorough knowledge of milling operations and equipment;
Coordinate with Estimator/Project Manager to ensure job is being built as planned by overseeing quality of job and production costs;
Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently;
Must be able to work nights, weekends and travel when required;
Must have a minimum of 3+ years experience with the materials, methods, maintenance and operations of equipment associated with asphalt milling;
Able to stand, sit, kneel, walk, talk, see, hear, push, pull, climb, bend and stoop.
Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
