Job Summary
This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing work metals processing and distribution work.
Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.
This position requires the ability to perform work involving planning as well as extensive traveling, along with other operational support functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Motivate, train, and mentor warehouse staff
Coach and follow safety policies and procedures
Assist in implementation of warehouse and material processing improvements
Act as support and technical resource for all locations
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, safety and procedures
Report improvement measures needed to increase efficiency
Identify best practices that could be used across multiple locations
Help develop innovative solutions to increase safety and productivity
Maintain proof of travel expenses and fill out a monthly expense report adhering to the travel policy
Assist in development and purchase of equipment as required
Evaluate effectiveness of physical inventory procedures and make recommendations
Write, evaluate, and teach work instructions
Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards
Required & Preferred Qualifications
5 plus years of management experience in metals processing and/or warehouse role, or any equivalent combination of education and relevant operations experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
High School diploma/GED preferred.
Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with location staff and vendors required.
Cursory knowledge of Phoenix warehouse and processing programs is preferred.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and machine capability, material handling, cost, inventory and quality management, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods required.
Knowledge of company product(s) and their uses required.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal/external customers required.
Willingness and ability to travel, work weekends, and off business hours, as needed (up to 75% TRAVEL REQUIRED).
Ability to book flights, make hotel and rental car arrangements.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Ability to acquire and maintain equipment certifications including but not limited to Overhead crane, side loader, and for trucks.
Works in a safe manner and can identify unsafe situations.
Ability and willingness to follow direction and follow company policies required.
Ability to communicate clearly with warehouse staff and management.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
