Summary
Plumbing Apprentices are responsible for assisting plumbers at homes and commercial residences.
Helping install, repair, and maintain pipes used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.
Essential Functions
Packing and sorting plumbing equipment for each job.
Locating pipe leaks and preparing the work area.
Receiving tools and buying additional stock and equipment.
Cutting open walls and structures to expose pipes.
Installing garbage disposals.
Adjusting water pressure valves.
Assisting the Master Plumber with plumbing installations and repairs.
Replacing faucet washers and toilet wax rings.
Measuring, cutting, and threading pipes.
Installing gutters, drainpipes, and runoff systems.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Aspiring plumber apprentices are expected to hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Detailed knowledge of plumbing equipment and techniques
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record
Proven work experience as a Plumber Helper
Physical Activities & Requirements
Physical Strength: Walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, reaching (including overhead), climbing ladders/stairs and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
on a regular basis
Environment: Work in varying temperatures including non-climate-controlled areas occasionally with extreme temperatures
Schedule: Must be available to work nights and weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of customers
Visual Abilities: Must be able to correctly differentiate between colors
Other: Must be proficient in the use of smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices
