WELDING SUPERVISOR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for the operations of the plant, which includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times.
Other duties include ensuring company policy and procedures are followed as well as assisting in the training process for new hires and staff members.
The Welding Supervisor responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
Contributes to and supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety policies and procedures are being met for employee and guest safety.
Professionally represent Swanton Welding & Machining Company with existing and prospective customers and vendors.
Provide overall leadership, direction, and motivation to achieve company and customer objectives.
Coordinate plant activities to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Meet daily with management to communicate schedule updates, discuss jobs status, new job packages and any other updates or changes.
Conduct interviews and welding tests with prospective candidates.
Ensure new employees are properly trained and onboarded into their respective department.
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets/equipment to produce optimal results.
Facilitate the process for resolving equipment and facility issues along with preventative maintenance on machines.
Monitor plant performance for production and quality standards.
Participate with Human Resources on the mid-year and yearly performance reviews of plant employees.
Ensure plant floor organization and plant cleanliness.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WELDING SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Excellent leadership, team building and managerial skills in a manufacturing setting
Knowledge or training in safety rules and regulations
Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures
Ability to read, interpret work orders and blueprints
Knowledge of welding and fabrication equipment
Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
Ability to work well in a team-oriented work environment
Strong interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
Excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Positive attitude and self-directed individual
PLANT MANAGER EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in related field preferred.
At least two years' of manufacturing experience
At least two years' managerial or supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
The majority of time will be spent on the shop floor overseeing employees and work being performed.
