Job Description
Co-Op are cycled, full time opportunities for engineering students who are currently enrolled in a four-year engineering college/university.
The Packaging Science Co-op will work closely with full time engineering/packaging staff to become familiar with the wire manufacturing support process, as well as the tools, techniques, and thought process used in the respective discipline.
There will also be every effort made to expose the Co-op student to as many types of manufacturing directly related to the packaging or wire industry as time will allow.
Assignments may center on projects devoted to: improvements in operations efficiency, scrap reduction, cost reduction, and problem solving.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop production and design standards.
Work with Packaging staff Engineer to support and resolve customer concerns and process problems related to packaging.
Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop and optimize package testing protocols
Grow the ability to recognize opportunities to lower cost and improve performance and learn the steps to implement these cost saving opportunities.
Work to support managements packaging initiatives.
Will develop strong knowledge and expertise in packaging methods, concepts, and ideology.
Exposure with outside vendors when considering solutions to problems.
Capable of designing within estimated budgets
Must coordinate with plant personnel, vendors and contractors to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
Keep well-informed of current trends and technology, and utilize this information effectively
Develop and grow understand of how an excellent manufacturing company is run, particularly in regard to safety.
Eligibility Requirements
Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science
Ability to work 40 hours Co-Op rotation per week
At least a 2.
5 GPA
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions
Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
