General Description and Classification Standards:
The Department of Public Works (DPW) Office of Fleet Services Lead Quality Assurance Inspector (G.
21) will serve as a key knowledge worker driving and engaging in critical initiatives for the department.
This newly created position will perform inspections to ensure that the City’s fleet is maintained in accordance with policy and regulations by conducting daily physical inspections of the fleet.
Additionally, the position will examine reports relative to all safety and efficiency measures, provide daily and detailed reports regarding safety issues to department management for evaluation and action, and provide oversight of safety inspections for all large City vehicles and equipment.
This is a fleet management quality assurance and review work, at the administrative and operational level.
The position holds the responsibility for quality assurance and quality control, review of preventive maintenance procedures and repairs , primary repairs, predictive maintenance vehicle and equipment specification development, procurement of vehicles, warranty administration, vehicle equipment requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Respond to and inspect escalations from the Office of Service Delivery, Department of Public Works executive team and the public concerning service delivery.
Conducting daily equipment inspections using established inspection criteria Completing quality assurance reports for management regarding the city equipment inspections Reviewing quality assurance documents, maintenance records, safety inspections, and other related documentation of work completed by OFS fleet shops and commercial vendors.
Ensuring compliance with city, state and federal laws and regulations specialized equipment Documenting information as necessary in the fleet maintenance application Completing research and analysis regarding city, state and federal requirements related to the fleet Completing special projects as assigned, independently or as a member of a team Analyze data, conduct audits, and generate reports to provide technical support for determining root causes and identifying trends in Fleet Maintenance.
Review multiple software applications to assist in proactive identification of operational inefficiencies to resolve timely and efficiently.
Organize various initiatives, from simple activities to more complex plans, working closely with management.
Collaborate with the Operations Team to discuss and resolve delayed services trends through inspections; review of software applications and explain trends to management.
Validate services provided by the Department of Public Works and contracted vendor providers.
Ability to prepare key reports for the management to drive operational efficiency.
Will be required to operate City vehicles in performing the job duties for this role.
Performs other related duties as required.
Supervision Received Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
