Location Specific Information The ideal candidate can be based remotely in Houston, TX or Miami, FL or DC/Maryland area.
There is expected overnight travel for this role.
Discover Impactful Work: Assemble, Install, problem solve, repair, test, calibrate and maintain electro-mechanical equipment and systems supported by TDX.
Inspect and/or test electronic and mechanical parts and components to drawing tolerances and written specifications.
Ensure continued external customer satisfaction with products by providing high quality and timely service and repair of electromechanical systems and products.
A Day in the Life: Basic problem solving installation, maintenance and service repair needs on designated equipment following technical service manuals for the instrument.
Completing Preventative Maintenance and Field Upgrade Modification per instructions i.
e.
upgrades, technical bulletins per technical service manuals and technical bulletin documentation for the instrument.
Ordering and managing repair parts cycle times.
Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner.
Maintaining daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and prompt follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
Maintaining tools and test equipment and ensuring they are calibrated.
Meeting Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements.
Applying the Customer Inquiry process to resolve customer service delivery issues and conducting root cause analysis that will lead to effective problem solving.
Be able to travel 60% of the time at minimum.
Availability to travel to any covered region when required.
International travel may be required.
Work independently scheduling planned maintenance, and on demand services, problem solving on site to identify and confirm root cause determined by the Equipment Technical Application Specialist and FAS.
Essential Functions: Develop in-depth and detailed technical knowledge of One Lambda equipment to conduct the installation, calibration, maintenance, service and support of One Lambda (TDX) equipment and systems.
Field-response to support all One Lambda automation.
Contacts and Relations: Works well with technical and non-technical team members.
Will have frequent interaction and communication (telephone and email) with TDX Customers, Sales personnel, Product Specialists, Customer Support, vendors, regulatory (internal and external), quality control.
Will need to take direction from Field Service Manager, Product Equipment Specialist as well as Technical Product Manager.
Accountability: Maintain the confidentiality of critical laboratory and business data.
Define and complete work schedule to include travel requirements within budgetary guidelines.
Individual must maintain a positive professional relationship with customers and Sales Team through timely coordination and communication during the normal course of professional duties.
Keys to Success: Education/Training: Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 2+ of field equipment service experience.
OR High School Diploma and 5+ years of field equipment service experience required.
Experience: Familiarity and prior experience with Tecan automation hardware/software preferred.
Preferred experience in automated pipettors, liquid handlers, robotics Hands on experience maintaining, calibrating, and repairing electromechanical medical device preferred.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to read and use schematics and wiring diagrams.
Last minute travel requests with minimum 24 hours notice can be expected Able to interface comfortably with customers who may be in a stressful situation with a malfunctioning piece of equipment.
Must follow verbal directions and perform procedures as assigned.
Can read, understand, and implement written and/or verbal assembly, test and inspection procedures.
Knowledge of bench top electromechanical assembly, troubleshooting, repair and testing techniques.
Ability to solder.
Ability to travel domestically within the U.
S.
and international, as needed.
Must communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
Comfortable operating Windows 7 & 10 and have knowledge that including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Professional.
Familiarity with HLA Laboratories, testing procedures.
Knowledge of: Mechanics, Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
Basic Input/Output Systems, use of machines and tools.
Candidate must have applied knowledge on assembly of automated equipment systems, precision mechanically controlled motion systems.
Ability to: Exercise independent discretion and judgment in execution of their duties.
Plan and organize oneself in a reliable and consistent manner.
Willingness to reschedule planned services to prioritize ad hoc service calls.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with management, staff members and third parties (customers and vendors).
Maintain high professional corporate image at all times with third parties.
Maintain confidentiality of critical laboratory and business information; perform computer data entry in a diligent manner.
Be a self-starter with the ability to positively motivate others.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members and end-users.
Be able to travel at minimum, two or more times per month both within the U.
S.
and international.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Work will be performed either standing or sitting (75% and 25% respectively) at workbenches or tabletop workstations.
Occasional heavy lifting will be required (50 - 75 lbs).
Ability to work long hours working in front of a PC.
Working with protective rubber gloves and potentially biohazardous materials including blood products and chemical reagents typically found and used in electromechanical and/or biomedical environments.
Using standard hand tools for electromechanical assembly as well as light duty power tools such as a drill press, band saw, and handheld power drill motors etc.
