Summary of Duties:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for design, product development, special orders and ensuring that key projects and engineering duties are fulfilled.
He/she responsible for solving any engineering issues that come up in a project, answers technical questions, proposes budgets for projects, trains new employees, works with various other departments, and prepares reports on the progress of any project.
The detailed duties include:
Directs, coaches and develops a team of Designers and Engineers in the day-to-day performance of their jobs
Manages all engineering activities within the department including design, development, production and testing
Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives
Ensures all designs are designed with manufacturability in mind
Confronts and solves performance and operational issues to improve development efficiencies
Oversees the projects and delivery timelines to keep projects on time and on budget
Helps to create and oversee departmental budgets and capital plans
Maintains a high level of expertise in the compressed air quality fields
Develops and maintains documentation to meet requirements for ISO 9001
Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Job Requirements:
Familiar with Lean manufacturing and process improvements.
Solid engineering ability with a proven ability to lead teams and lead by example
Demonstrated ability to systematically approach and resolve challenges
Customer focused serving both internal and external customers
Excellent communication skills are required to be successful in this team-oriented environment (written and verbal)
Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development relating to the compressed air treatment industry.
Ability to think with an approach to innovation in order to product a new concept or idea as well as to encourage and inspire innovation across the team.
Excellent knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel; prefer familiarity with SAP and MS Project
Ability to organize, prioritize and assign workload
Familiar with Solidworks and PDM systems preferred
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment preferred
Education/ work experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering
10+ years of progressive engineering experience
3+ years of engineering management experience
Experience in the compressed air industry preferred
