About the Role We are looking for either a Risk Engineer or Senior Risk Engineer to join our Risk Engineering Services – Property Team.
Serve as an Account Engineer for customers whose property insurance programs are written out of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' North America Region.
Develop customer service plans, negotiate fees, coordinate account field servicing to be done either by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' own risk engineers or by trusted service partners.
Closely interact with customers, underwriters, and brokers as part of the production, underwriting, and servicing lifecycle of accounts.
Collaborate with and advise underwriters on risk quality and exposure of existing accounts and new business, to achieve a preferable risk selection.
This is done by reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing risk assessments conducted by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions risk engineers, by service partners, as well as third party technical risk information (desktop risk assessment).
On occasion, conduct on-site risk assessments and operations reviews to verify our customers' or prospect customer's risk mitigation approaches and to provide customers with risk improvement suggestions.
Prepare external loss control and internal underwriting information reports and review project plans.
Work in close collaboration with the Customer Distribution Management and Claims departments while servicing existing customers or prospecting new business.
About You Engineering degree - mechanical / electrical / industrial / civil (Equivalent experience/degree can be considered) Risk Engineer: Recommended three to five years loss prevention experience in North America as a field engineer and/or some experience as an account engineer Sr.
Risk Engineer: Recommended seven to ten years loss prevention experience in North America as a field engineer along with experience serving as an account engineer Property insurance background, or combination of property insurance and industrial experience Expertise in property loss prevention and loss control for a broad range of industries and commercial businesses (i.
e.
- general manufacturing, plastic working, food, real estate, retail, warehousing, metal working, health care, hospitality, etc.
) Specialized industry expertise / experience (i.
e.
– chemical, pulp & paper, steel, automotive, pharmaceutical, telecom, semiconductor, etc.
) Strong understanding and expertise associated with Natural Catastrophe exposures – Earthquake / Flood / Windstorm / etc.
Working knowledge of NFPA standards as well as practical knowledge of Factory Mutual data sheets or similar Highly Protected Risk (HPR) standards Ability to develop maximum possible loss, anticipated loss potential and normal loss potential scenarios in line with property insurance industry practice, with a strong understanding of business interruption exposure, in its various forms (CBI, IBI, etc).
Link loss prevention expertise with loss experience to enable emerging loss trends analysis and collaboration across RES, underwriting and claims Experience / expertise with data analytics, benchmarking, portfolio risk management and/or automation capabilities.
Strong customer facing and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient computer skills (e.
g.
, Microsoft Office products).
Business sense, team player, customer commitment & service mindset International Programs Expertise In this role, the candidate selected will have to serve as an account engineer for both domestic and international programs, either on North America based accounts or on accounts from other regions whose servicing is required in North America.
Therefore, the ideal candidate should also have: Experience with servicing International Program business customers including a full complement of service offerings (i.
e.
– global fronting, and lead risk engineering services).
Knowledge in developing fee for service risk engineering proposals and quotations on global programs.
Expertise in working with a global risk engineering network and providing risk engineering support for global customers.
Ability to work with a variety of global loss prevention standards.
About the Team As a member of our global Risk Engineering Services (RES) team, you will contribute to various projects and papers involving best practices, guidelines, underwriting costing, industry updates, as well as conducting seminars and technical training sessions.
This team approach also allows engineers to provide support and step in for missing expertise/resource gaps at other RES locations (globally).
