Description
The purpose of this position is to serve as Publix’s lead on-site electrical representative for all retail construction projects, independently providing technical oversight, coordination, and guidance to construction electrical subcontractors installing whole-building power feeds and in-store electrical and lighting infrastructure supporting all high voltage and low voltage systems and equipment.
This position ensures electrical work in multiple, simultaneous new stores, remodels, and special projects is installed in a safe, timely, and high-quality manner and according to plans, specifications, and National Electrical Code standards.
Further, this position provides scope change recommendations to ensure projects meet retail operational and/or local municipality requirements.
The incumbent in this position makes independent electrical and lighting decisions while on project sites and in stores and represents Publix (and/or the Publix Facilities department) when interfacing directly with numerous vendors, contractors, Store Managers, District Managers, and Regional Directors across all projects.
Should the incumbent not perform the position well, errors could result in power outages that can affect entire departments or an entire store, with product losses over $100,000 per event.
Although this associate may sometimes seek high level guidance or approval, typical decisions they make are autonomous and the directions given to our contractors and vendors have a direct impact on the safety, value, quality, and timeliness of the electrical infrastructure turned over to Publix at job completion.

Additional responsibilities include: Perform technical and quality assurance inspections of electrical installations related to multiple new construction projects, remodel and special projects Managing and responding to formal and informal electrical RFIs (requests for information) from all involved participants Communicating and coordinating the installation of all Publix approved revisions Evaluating change orders Coordinating delivery of Publix supplied equipment Active participation on selected teams and training efforts Attending continuous development training and maintaining professional licensing certification Required Qualifications Must be at least 20 years old High School Diploma or its equivalent experience Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record At least five (5) years commercial electrical construction experience Journeyman Electrical license and maintenance/completion of continuing education requirements for active status Knowledge of plans and specifications Knowledge of material and methods used in electrical wiring and equipment installations Knowledge of the fundamental principles of electricity Expanded knowledge of the National Electrical Code and associated rules, regulations, ordinances and standards Analytical, technical, mathematical, communication, and time-management skills Basic computer skills using the Internet, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software Willingness to travel Willingness to work a variable work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Willingness to attend seminars, conferences, and continuous education classes Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Ten (10) or more years of commercial electrical construction experience with five (5) of those years as a superintendent Master Electrician License State Certified Electrical license and State Electrical Inspector license Knowledge of Publix vision and mission statement, policies and guidelines.
