The Index Governance Director will be an integral member and leader of the Index Governance team and will report to the Head of Index Governance.
This role will have visibility and interaction with all team members across the Index business and will routinely interact with and present to Index Management.
Key areas of responsibility and opportunity include: developing and managing key communications and policies & procedures, establishing and implementing a quality control self-testing program for Index, implementing and overseeing a consistent third party oversight framework, coordinating and collaborating with regulators and internal Second and Third Line of Defense functions on behalf of the Index business.
This role will also partner closely with Index Leaders to design and implement technological and operational process improvements in support of business governance and efficiency.
Strategic thinker with leadership and execution responsibilities for introducing and implementing governance best practices and enhancements across all areas of the Index business.
Oversee Index third parties through a governance lens by monitoring, tracking, and reporting on their performance.
Serve as an Index business liaison and partner with Technology, Regulators, Auditors, Risk Management and Compliance on all regulatory matters impacting the Global Index Business.
Evaluate and track all open Regulatory or Audit issues to assist owners with progress and resolution of corrective actions; Partner with and advise Index stakeholders on strategic best practices related to process, controls and supporting documentation.
Oversee and manage a centralized Policy Governance Framework.
Perform other strategic projects or duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Global Index executives.
Develops and establishes functional strategy and tactics to ensure successful completion of work that meets or exceeds client and/or organizational expectations.
Manages cross departmental resources and takes accountability for the performance and results of key initiatives and projects.
Identifies, establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers and influencers internally and externally.
Provides subject matter expertise to clients, team members, colleagues, etc.
on projects.
Participates in both internal and external projects that are broad in scope and closely tied to the organizational strategy.
Conducts regular status and strategy meetings with internal and external teams to understand risks, priorities, etc.
and ensure a successful end result.
Evaluates current business processes and systems, ensuring cost-savings and risk control.
Keeps abreast of Governance and risk management trends and best practices; evaluates and prioritizes recommendations to minimize risk.
Provides expertise and guidance in developing and implementing controls and cost-effective approaches/recommendations to minimize the organization's risks.
Educates leadership on Governance initiatives and best practices; writes and speaks with clarity and precision, presenting complex information in a concise format.
Has good understanding of regulatory framework and the impact on the Index business.
Education Required: Degree qualified in relevant discipline or equivalent working 10+ years of experience within the financial services industry.
Demonstrated experience counseling and advising business leaders and managers across the Index team.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, related discipline or equivalent work experience Collaborative working style with the ability to navigate and influence across the Index organization and supporting business teams.
Understanding of regulatory requirements including IOSCO Principles for Benchmarks and BMR.
Demonstrated experience successfully implementing initiatives in complex environments.
Strong understanding of the Index business and regulatory challenges that impact the industry.
Experience in drafting and reviewing public facing policies and operational procedure documentation.
Experience and understanding of financial markets, securities and industry data.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Track record of working successfully both independently and with a team.
Highly motivated self-starter with intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving skills.
Well organized - able to prioritize and manage multiple, time-sensitive projects at the same time.
Nimble - demonstrated success and experience managing complex issues to resolution within changing environments and shifting priorities.
Technology skill set and understanding a plus.
