Overview:
The Computer Programmer will provide surge support for the implementation of the Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) and play a vital role in supporting data management responsibilities for projects carried out by the Field Epidemiology and Prevention Branch (FEPB).
The role requires the Computer Programmer to assist with planning and organizing VACS data collection activities, develop and maintain data collection systems, and collaborate with in country partners to enhance electronic data collection capacity.
This role may require frequent international travel for extended periods (4 – 6 weeks per trip).

Provide computer programming support and consultation, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining data collection information systems.
Assist FEPB in planning and organizing VACS data collection activities, ensuring efficient and effective data management processes.
Develop computer programs and processes tailored for the successful implementation of VACS and other data management projects.
Develop country specific databases, data dictionaries, and electronic data entry systems, enabling efficient data collection, cleaning, and management.
Design, test, and evaluate logic code for VACS data collection systems, emphasizing functionality, user-friendliness, efficiency, and data accuracy.
Monitor the data entry process for errors and conduct error checks on raw data files, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Provide analytic support to prepare analyses and reports, helping to translate data into actionable insights.
Collaborate with CDC to revise electronic data collection tools and training materials, ensuring their effectiveness and relevance.
Participate in travel to conduct training sessions to build the capacity of in country partners on VACS electronic data collection systems and data management procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, informatics, or a related field.
Must have or be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Two (2) or more years of experience in the following areas:
o Designing, developing, and maintaining data collection information systems.
o Strong experience with ODK (Open Data Kit)
o Developing data entry programs, databases, and reports in low-resource settings.
o Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, SQL, and Microsoft Access.
o Experience with surveys, surveillance systems, or large epidemiological studies, including cloud-based development of visual analytics systems.
o Preparing technical documentation and computer-generated reports.
o Strong project management and organizational skills.
Experience in training and leading teams of various sizes
Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in explaining complex topics to diverse audiences.
Global CDC programs experience preferred.
Must be willing and able to travel internationally and manage all aspects of travel logistics
Pay Range: USD $95,000.
00 - USD $115,000.
