WABE is seeking an experienced hands-on Senior IT & Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in the fast-paced world of broadcast and media.
You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT, digital, and network infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations in our media environment.
Responsibilities: 1.
Hands-On Support, Management & Maintenance: This hands-on role must ensure continuous uptime for a 24/7 broadcast environment and may require occasional after-hours, night, or weekend work to troubleshoot and maintain systems operations.
Maintain equipment for optimal functionality and promptly troubleshoot issues across all platforms.
Support and manage broadcast, IT, and content distribution platforms, including TV, radio, video, audio, podcasting, engineering, and business networks.
Ensure 24/7 support for the broadcast production environment, occasionally working evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
Properly log and address support requests via the Support Desk tracking system.
Facilitate employee IT onboarding and training.
Provide engineering support for live productions and postproduction workflows.
Respond to broadcast and on-air emergencies promptly, documenting and resolving incidents and service requests.
Assist with the Implementation and maintenance of ATSC 3.
0, AoIP, SMPTE 2110 technologies.
Manage documentation, technical standards, and processes.
Collaborate on equipment management and lifecycle processes, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
Proficiency in utilizing collaborative cloud tools such as Media and Digital Asset Management software.

Network Architecture and Design: Develop and maintain the company's network architecture to support media production needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions for live broadcasts, content distribution, and data transfer.
Deploy and maintain Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Application and Networking Services.

Network Administration: Manage and maintain network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
Perform routine maintenance and operational support for networks and servers.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for minimal downtime.
Analyze system, server, network, and application usage and plan for capacity growth.

System Administration: Oversee system administration and virtualization (e.

, Hyper-V & VMware).
Manage active directory, Microsoft 365, and VoIP solution.

Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security protocols to safeguard data and media assets.

Support and improve the company’s cybersecurity program.

Server and Infrastructure Management: Oversee server administration, provisioning, maintenance, and performance tuning.
Install, upgrade, maintain, and modify server software.
Manage virtualization environments and storage solutions.

Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery plans.
Regularly test and update plans for effectiveness.

Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with multimedia teams to integrate IT and network solutions into the production workflow.
Ensure seamless connectivity for video editing, content distribution, and live streaming.
Implement and manage video servers, digital assets management & storage systems etc.

Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors.
Negotiate contracts and oversee procurement of IT and network equipment.

Provide training and support to team members to enhance their technical capabilities.

Technical Records: Maintain technical records and engineering logs 12.
Helpdesk Management: Manage WABE’s managed helpdesk and security service providers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (advanced degrees and industry certifications are a plus).
Knowledge of designing and managing network infrastructures & technologies, especially in the broadcast and media industry, is preferred but not a requirement.
Strong knowledge of network protocols, security practices, and performance optimization.
Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Adaptability to changing technologies and business requirements.
