Spanning the course of 10 weeks, from June 3rd - August 9th, this program is available to sophomore-graduate students currently enrolled in a college or university.
Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to complete a capstone project, participate in professional development sessions, and receive mentorship.
The Data Security and Privacy Intern is a visible role across the enterprise, engaging with business, technology, and corporate functions to define and document data security and privacy requirements, collect artifacts and streamline practices, research and curate documentation, and implement process improvements.
The Intern is also responsible for documenting, analyzing, and optimizing data lifecycle management processes and foundational practices through policies, standards, guidance, and training, as well as defining, tracking, and reporting associated KPIs and risk metrics.
The Intern will also participate in data security and privacy incident processes to maintain alignment with Information Security and Privacy partners on data challenges and opportunity areas to enhance current practices, processes, and capabilities.
Assist the DAM&E program in working with Information Security, Privacy, Data Owners/Stewards/Custodians, Risk, Compliance, IT, Legal, Internal Audit, and business stakeholders to ensure data security and privacy requirements are implemented and enforced consistently for structured and unstructured data throughout GPN’s on-premise and cloud environments Review and evaluate the lifecycle of confidential and sensitive data within business and technology environments, including management of the collection, storage, use, transfer, retention, and destruction of information Employ data discovery tools (specifically Informatica Data Privacy Management) to ensure implementation of GPN’s Data Classification Standard, track sensitive data locations and business usage, and validate protection of sensitive data at-rest (i.
e.
, row/column-level security in data stores) Understand and provide guidance around data flows/maps, retention, data destruction, data protection best practices, and Privacy-by-Design/Privacy Engineering operationalization across the data lifecycle Engage with Privacy, Data Stewards/Custodians, and business stakeholders to validate where personal data is stored/processed, capture business purpose/need, and assess how privacy is embedded in associated business processes and data handling activities to evaluate data privacy risk Review implemented data security and privacy controls, provide recommendations based on knowledge of security and privacy frameworks, and coordinate issue management and remediation activities using RSA Archer Coordinate with Information Security and Privacy to develop data protection controls, policies, standards, guidelines, operating procedures, and employee training material Review privacy and security incidents alerts and assist in related incident management activities as a DAM&E representative Design, track, and aggregate on data security and privacy KPIs and risk metrics as part of DAM&E program reporting Promote operational efficiency through alignment and execution of automation and continuous process improvement between DAM&E, Information Security, and Privacy teams Work with stakeholders across GPN to understand data security and privacy challenges and align data protection requirements and risks with capabilities that can inform future architecture and new functionality decisions Maintain current awareness and understanding of GPN data governance, privacy, and security standards and policies to ensure compliance within business and technology environments Remain current with regulatory updates and maintain an understanding of data security and privacy legal, regulatory, and compliance topics and how they affect GPN Global Payments Inc.
